Research on advertising & marketing

Research on advertising & marketing

As a group we decided to look at ways of advertising our teaser trailer and the prices for different advertising strategies. Our main source was the internet and also getting in touch with companies to ask them more about their company and get some figures.

Advertising is a form of communication intended to persuade its viewers, readers or listeners to take some action. It usually includes the name of a product or service and how that product could benefit the consumer.

Trailers consists of a series of selected shots from the film being advertised. Since the purpose of the trailer is to attract an audience to the film, these clips are usually the most exciting or funny parts of the film but in abbreviated form without giving the plot away. The scenes are not necessarily in the order in which they would appear in the film. A trailer has to achieve that in less than 2 minutes. Each studio/ distributor is allowed to exceed the time limit once a year.

Here is the teaser trailer for the film 'Shaun Of The Dead' :

We began by looking at black - cab advertising

This website advertises a company that specialises in advertising on black cabs whether it be posters on the seat covers or a wrap which is when the exterior of the cab is covered with a poster.

www.blackcab-advertising.com

We wanted to get a bit more information about the comapany and the average prices as there prices are not set. An e-mail was written up and sent to the company.

This website is called 'sign poster'. The website is basically setup up for companies, mainly small buisness to be able to advertise their company
or product in public places on things such as billboards, bus stop, buses and phone boxes. As it it is much easier for larger more well known companies to get publicity.

The website tell you locations of where you can advertise your product or company and how much it will cost a week. An e-mail was written and sent to this company to get sum quotes on how much certain types of advertisement would cost.
