Audience research

After completing the poster to go with the teaser trailer we decided to get some feedback for the poster.
We decided to go about getting feedback from people differently rather than the usual questionnaires. As a group we went to central London with our poster and a video camera and ask members of the public what they thought of the poster.
Before going to central London we had to think about the details:

Details of the audience research:
  • What questions are we going to ask ?
  • In what way/ order we would conduct the interview - keeping it short and sweet - also getting there permission
  • Would the way we are dressed / presented make the public want to talk to us.
  • Instead of telling members of the public personal details such as college etc. An idea is to create a false company that you are collecting audience research for as they may release this film.

The disadvantages of doing filmed audience research are:

  • Not everyone is going to want to talk to you.
  • Some people don't like the idea of being filmed
  • the location could be very noisy so you may not be able to hear the interviewee when the interview is played back.

The advantages of doing filmed audience research are:

  • People have the chance to explain the reason for the answer they gave to a question
  • You are able to see the different types of people we interviewed
  • given permission is shown by them allowing us to video them
However after reviewing our research we still decided to questionnaires aswell.
